Position Description

The Senior Project Accountant will be responsible for managing financial aspects of projects within Sync Lift Engineering.  This role includes overseeing budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting, all while ensuring strict compliance with company policies and accounting standards. The ideal candidate will bring a solid background in project accounting, strong analytical abilities, and excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with project managers and stakeholders.

 

About the Role

 

  • Financial Management:
  • Prepare and manage project budgets, forecasts, and financial reports
  • Monitor project costs and ensure adherence to budgetary constraints
  • Analyze variances between budgeted and actual costs, providing insights for corrective actions

 

  • Accounting Functions:
  • Process project-related invoices, ensuring timely and accurate payments
  • Oversee the reconciliation of project accounts and resolve discrepancies
  • Maintain accurate project accounting records in compliance with GAAP

 

  • Reporting:
  • Generate regular financial reports for project managers and senior           management
  • Provide financial analysis to support decision-making and project planning.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements related to projects

 

 

  • Collaboration:
  • Work closely with project managers to understand project financial needs and requirements.
  • Provide training and guidance to junior accounting staff as needed.
  • Participate in project meetings to provide financial insights and updates

 

  • Compliance and Audit:
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and company policies.
  • Assist in internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Stay up-to-date on changes in accounting regulations that may affect project accounting
  • Monitor AR mailboxes and distribute/respond to emails as needed
  • Track customer collections activity and correspondence
  • Assist accounting department, and executive leadership team with tasks when needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

Professional Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in finance or accounting.
  • Qualified CPA/CMA/CA or its equivalent qualifications (preferable)

 

Experience

  • 12 to 15+ years of experience in accounting or similar field
  • Very good in Microsoft Advance Excel
  • Experience in ERP preferable Microsoft Dynamic 360 Central
  • Finance and accounting experience with similar size organisations
  • Corporate finance with exposure to mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures
  • Excellent analytical ability
  • Strategic Thinking and Problem-Solving Analysis
  • Detail-oriented, efficient and organised
  • Responds well in fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent knowledge of advanced MS-Excel
  • Working knowledge of finance systems and software
  • Experience of capital raising activities and investment management
  • Experience in investment banking is advantageous
  • Knowledge of IFRS accounting standards and local government compliance
